A weather-related postponement for the FCL Yanks meant there was no action stateside on Monday, but still some results to report from DR.
FCL Yankees (18-7): The Yanks were set to host the Tigers, but couldn’t due to wet grounds. No makeup date was immediately available.
DSL Yankees (12-16): The Yankees blew a 6-2 lead and fell behind in extras, but rallied for an 8-7 walk-off win over the Angels.
- Star of the Game: Juan Matheus – 3-for-5, 2 doubles, 3 RBI, 2 strikeouts, 1 stolen base. Matheus has a .516 OBP and seven doubles in his rookie year
- Keiner Delgado: 2-for-2, 2 runs scored, 2 walks. Delgado continues to rake, with a .326 average and 1.113 OPS, though he was caught stealing twice and picked off once on Monday
- Manuel Palencia: 1-for-4, 1 RBI, 2 runs scored, 2 walks. Palencia’s RBI single in the bottom of the 10th provided the game-winning run
- David Beckles: 1-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 2 walks, 1 strikeout, 3 stolen bases
- Henry Lalane: 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R (1 ER), 1 BB, 4 K
- Sabier Marte: 3 IP, 5 H, 5 R (2 ER), 1 BB, 3 K
- Jordy Luciano: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K. Luciano earned his first win with a scoreless 10th
DSL Bombers (17-12): The Bombers managed just three hits and were plastered by Pirates Gold 13-0.
- Star of the Game: Edwar Polimir – 4.2 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 8 K. Though he took his first loss, Polimir has now struck out eight hitters in back-to-back appearances – and Monday was his first time out as a starter since June 10
