New York Yankees (MLB): The New York Yankees (9-10) defeated the Kansas City Royals, 6-2 at Yankee Stadium.

  • Brett Gardner: 1-for-2 with 1 run scored, 2 RBIs 1 walk
    His lone hit was a 2-run home run in the third inning to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead over the Royals.
  • Tyler Wade: 2-for-3 with 1 run scored
    Wade raised his batting average to .238 for the season.
  • Aaron Judge: 1-for-3, 1 run scored, 1 walk
  • Luke Voit: 1-for-2, 1 run scored, 2 walks
  • Gleyber Torres: 1-for-4
  • CC Sabathia: 5IP 3H 1R 0ER 4BB 5SO
    Has yet to allow an earned run this season.  He now has 2994 career strikeouts.
  • Luis Cessa: 1IP 2H 1R 1ER 0BB 2SO

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A): The RailRiders (8-6) and the Buffalo Bisons were postponed due to inclement weather.  Gio Gonzalez was scheduled to make the start and his opt-out is Saturday.

The game will be made up as a doubleheader on June 3.  The teams were already scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday.  Gio Gonzalez and Drew Hutchison are tentatively scheduled to start those games.

Trenton Thunder (Double-A): The Trenton Thunder defeated the Portland SeaDogs 13-10 in Portland.

  • Ben Ruta: 4-for-6 with 2 runs scored, 1 double, 1 RBI
    Former 30th round pick in 2016 draft out of Wagner.  He has hit safely in all but three games.  It was the third four-hit game of his minor league career.  
  • Brandon Wagner: 2-for-5, 2 runs scored, 1 double, 1 triple, 2 RBI
  • Wendell Rijo: 3-for-5, 2 runs scored, 1 RBI
    This was his first three-hit game of the season.
  • Jorge Saez: 3-for-3, 2 runs scored, 1 home run, 5 RBIs, 2 walks
  • Hoy Jun Park: 1-for-6, 1 run scored, 1 triple, 1 RBI
  • Kyle Holder: 1-for-4, 1 run scored, 2 walks
  • Rashad Crawford: 1-for-4, 1 run scored, 1 RBI, 2 walks
  • Angel Aguilar: 1-for-5, 1 run scored
  • Jhalan Jackson: 1-for-5, 1 run scored, 1 double
  • Garrett Whitlock: 6IP, 3 H 1R 1ER 1BB 6SO
    He has allowed just three earned runs and three walks in three games this season.  Each of his outings have been six innings.  He threw 57/87 pitches for strikes (66%).
  • James Reeves: 0.2IP 3H 7R 0ER 2BB 1SO
    He committed an error to open the seventh inning and the inning was extended after catcher’s interference which contributed to the seven unearned runs scoring. He threw 21/37 pitches for strikes (57%)
  • Kaleb Ort: 2IP 3H 1R 1ER 0BB 4SO
    The Yankees signed Ort out of an Indy League.  He has 15 strikeouts in 7.2 innings pitched.  This was his third consecutive two-inning appearance and the first earned run he allowed since April 5.  He threw 27/37 pitches for strikes (73%)

Tampa Tarpons (Class-A Advanced): The Tampa Tarpons (6-10) defeated the Clearwater Threshers 8-4 in Clearwater.

  • Diego Castillo: 3-for-4 with 4 runs scored, a double, a home run and 2 RBIs
    Castillo now has a six-game hitting streak going and is hitting .476 over that stretch.
  • Dermis Garcia: 3-for-5 with 2 runs scored, a double, a home run and 2 RBIs.
    The former top prospect from the 2014 international free agent class is hitting .264/.298/.491 in 14 games for the Tarpons.  He has four home runs which puts him behind just Mike Ford on the organizational leaders in round-trippers.
  • Matt Pita: 1-for-5, 1 run scored 1 triple
  • Isiah Gilliam: 1-for-3, 1 double 1 RBI
  • Tyler Hill: 1-for-4
  • Miguel Yajure: 6IP 7H 4R 4ER 3BB 3SO
    He earned the win, threw 53/92 pitches for strikes (58%). He has a 4.80 ERA in 15 IP over three games.
  • Greg Weissert: 3IP 1H 0R 0ER 1BB 2SO
    18th round pick from the 2016 draft out of Fordham earned the save. He lowered his season ERA to 9.00.  It was also his longest outing of the season.

Charleston RiverDogs (Class-A): The RiverDogs were defeated by the Augusta Greenjackets 5-4 in extra innings.

  • Josh Stowers: 3-for-4, 1 run scored, 1 walk
    Stowers is now hitting .316 for the season.
  • Kyle Gray: 0-for-3
    Had the go-ahead RBI on a sacrifice fly in the tenth inning, scoring Max Burt.
  • Nelson Gomez: 1-for-4, 1 run scored, 1 home run, 1 RBI
    It was Gomez’s second home run of the season.
  • Eric Wagaman: 1-for-4
  • Canaan Smith: 1-for-3, 1 walk
    Smith has five walks in eight games for the RiverDogs with six strikeouts.
  • Luis Gil: 5IP 1H 0R 0ER 2BB 9SO
    Gil struck out five batters in a row and retired the first nine batters of the game in order.  He threw 48/81 pitches for strikes (59%).  He lowered his season ERA to 1.46.
  • Rodney Hutchison: 4IP 4H 3R 3ER 3BB 2SO
    The three runs, two walks, and three hits came in the ninth inning when the Greenjackets had a rally to tie the game.  He threw 40/69 pitches for strikes (58%).
  • Aaron McGarity: 0.1 2H 2R 1ER 0BB 0SO
    Allowed the tying run to score on a double and then took the loss after a sacrifice bunt and a single.  He threw just five pitches.
