While 2 teams were shutout, Scranton Wilkes-Barre and Trenton got good performances from their starting pitcher, Staten Island got a home run and 3 RBIs from one of this year’s draft picks, and the Dominican Summer League team continued to set offensive records.

Scranton Wilkes-Barre Railriders (Triple-A): The Railriders (56-42) lost 8-6 to the Louisville Bats in 10 innings.

  • Trey Amburgey: 2-for-4, 2 runs scored, 1 home run (16), 1 RBI (47). Amburgey tied his career-high for home runs in a season (16 with Double-A Trenton last year). 
  • Zack Zehner: 1-for-4, 1 run scored, 1 grand slam (6), 4 RBIs (27,28,29,30). Zehner is on an 11-game hit streak and has driven in multiple runs in 5 straight games. 
  • Terrance Gore: 2-for-4. Gore was making his Yankees organizational debut after being traded from the Royals on Thursday. 
  • Clint Frazier: 1-for-3, 1 run scored, 1 double, 1 walk. Frazier has a hit in 4 straight games. 
  • Ryan McBroom: 0-for-2, 1 run scored, 2 walks.
  • Breyvic Valera: 0-for-3, 1 run scored, 1 walk.

“He continues to put together good at-bats. He’s professional at the plate and does a pretty good job defensively as well. He brings a lot to the table offensively,” said manager David Adams on Henson.

  • David Metzgar:  2-for-3, 1 triple, 1 walk, 1 RBI (4). Metzgar has had multiple hits and driven in a run in 3 straight games. He’s 24 years old and has made an impact on the younger players on the team: 

“On and off the field, he shows up everyday ready to play and holds other guys accountable. He has a great relationship with all those guys. To me, it is invaluable,” said Adams about Metzgar. 

  • Ezequiel Duran: 1-for-5, 1 RBI (22). Duran has had at least 1 hit and 1 RBI in 6 straight games. He is hitting .353 in 16 games this month. 

“For me, I think it boils down to not trying to do too much, just trusting himself and showing more consistency,” said Adams about Duran.

Pulaski Yankees (Rookie-Advanced): The Yankees (19-10) were held to 2 hits in a 4-0 loss to the Danville Braves.

Gulf Coast League (Rookie): The West squad (7-12) lost their suspended game to GCL Tigers East, 3-1, and their regularly scheduled game, 6-2.

  • Wilfre Favelo: 3-for-4, 1 double, 2 walks, 5 runs scored, 3 RBIs (8,9,10).
  • Brayan Jimenez: 2-for-5, 1 walk, 2 doubles, 2 runs scored, 4 RBIs (9,10,11,12).
