Pinstriped Performances: Friday, July 26, 2019

In the 9 games that were played on Friday, the Yankees affiliates combined for a 4-5 record as doubleheaders were played in Tampa and Staten Island. Down in Tampa, history was made with a no-hitter. Meanwhile, Scranton Wilkes-Barre’s home run leader added another one to his total, Charleston had a player continue his RBI streak and Pulaski and Trenton got quality outings from their starters.

  • Nelson B. Alvarez: 0-for-2, 1 walk.
  • Wellington Diaz (2-3): 2.2 IP, 3 ER, 2 H, 5 BB, 2 K. 34 of 65 pitches were strikes. 
  • Barrett Loseke: 2.1 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 4 K. 27 of 40 pitches were strikes. The 40 pitches ties a season-high for Loseke in an outing. His 4 strikeouts were also a season-high. 
  • Daniel Ramos: 2 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 1 K. 16 of 26 pitches were strikes. Ramos hasn’t allowed an earned run in 7 of his last 8 outings.

  • Andres Chaparro: 1-for-2, 1 run scored, 1 double, 2 walks. Chaparro has a 5-game hit streak. 
  • Chase Illig: 1-for-2, 1 run scored, 2 walks. Illig was making his Staten Island Yankees debut. He was selected by New York in the 29th Round of this year’s draft out of West Virginia. 
  • Evan Alexander: 1-for-4, 1 double, 1 RBI (8).
  • Jake Sanford: 1-for-2.
  • Carlos Gallardo: 1-for-2, 1 walk.
  • David Metzgar: 1-for-1. Metzgar is on a 9-game hit streak.
  • Austin Gardner: 3 IP, 3 ER, 4 H, 5 K. 33 of 50 pitches were strikes. Gardner has now recorded 5+ strikeouts in 3 outings this year. 
  • Justin Wilson (0-2): 1.2 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 3 K. 27 of 43 pitches were strikes. Wilson did hit 99 miles-per-hour on the radar gun with his fastball.

  • Mitch Spence: 2 IP, 0 ER, 0 H. 12 of 18 pitches were strikes. The 12th Round pick in this year’s draft has not allowed a run in 5 straight outings. 
  • Tyler Johnson: 1 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K. 9 of 17 pitches were strikes. Johnson extends his scoreless streak to 8 straight outings to begin the year. 

Gulf Coast League (Rookie): The GCL East (8-14) had their game against GCL Phillies West suspended. The game will be completed on August 3. The Phillies led 7-1 in the top of the fourth.

Dominican Summer League (Rookie): The Yankees (19-23) lost to the DSL Rockies, 10-9, in 11 innings.
