Pinstriped Performances: Hudson Valley Has Double the Fun while Britton Rehabs with Somerset

 

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (16-6): The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders were the only Yankees affiliate to play on Saturday who did not play a doubleheader. They defeated the Buffalo Bisons.

  • Estevan Florial: 1-for-4, 1 double, 1 walk, 1 strikeout
  • Hoy Jun Park: 3-for-3, 1 run, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 walks – Park has raised his AAA batting average .371 over 35 at-bats and raised his season average to .288 between Double-A and Triple-A.
  • Chris Gittens: 1-for-4, 1 run, 1 double, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts
  • Trey Amburgey: 1-for-3, 1 run, 1 home run, 2 RBIs – Amburgey has hit safely in every game he has played. This was his first game back since being activated off the 7-day injured list.
  • Andrew Velazquez: 2-for-4, 1 stolen base
  • Brody Koerner: 5.1 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 SO – Koerner has quietly put together a great minor league career and currently has a 2.95 ERA over 5 starts and 21 1/3 innings pitched this season.
  • Brooks Kriske: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 SO
  • Kyle Barraclough: 1 IP, 0 H 0 R, 1 BB, 2 SO
  • Luis Garcia: 1 IP, 1 H, 0R, 1 SO

Somerset Patriots (16-7): Somerset split a doubleheader with the New Hampshire First Cats while Zack Britton began his rehab.

  • Donny Sands: 1-for-3
  • Isaiah Gilliam: 1-for-2, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI – Was the lone run of the game for Somerset
  • Zack Britton: 1 IP, 1H, 0R, 0ER, 0BB, 0 SO – Britton made his first rehab appearance of the year.
  • Shawn Semple: 4IP, 3 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO – Semple was the victim of some bad fielding.
  • Carlos Espinal: 2 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 2 ER

Game Two

Hudson Valley Renegades (13-10): Hudson Valley successfully completed a doubleheader sweep of the Jersey Shore Blue Claws behind two strong pitching performances.

  • Ezequiel Duran: 1-for-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI
  • James Nelson: 2-for-3, 1 R, 1 2B
  • Alex Guerrero: 2-for-3, 1 2B

  • Ken Waldichuk: 4.1 IP, 1 H, 0R, 0 ER , 2 BB, 9 SO – Waldichuk has yet to allow a run to score this season and has racked up 38 strikeouts over 18 2/3 innings.
  • Zach Greene: 2.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 5 SO – Greene has quietly put together a strong season out of the bullpen
