Pinstriped Performances: In Full Swing

Friday was the first night of action for Somerset, Hudson Valley and Tampa. In a twin bill for Scranton, a familiar face made an emphatic return.

Greg Bird (Cheryl Pursell)

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (4-0): An eventful doubleheader sweep over Syracuse, 7-6 and 10-1, saw a grand return for Greg Bird and the system’s first multi-homer game of the year.

Game 1

  • Star of the Game: Greg Bird – 2-for-5, 1 home run (1), 1 RBI, 1 run scored. Back in the Yanks’ organization after opting out of his minor league deal with the Blue Jays, Bird turned the clock back and took the third pitch he saw over the center field wall
