It took Josh Smith all of three pitches in his first game with Hudson Valley to sock his first High-A dinger. The Renegades split a doubleheader with their downstate rivals, while Tampa mashed thanks to big games from their big names.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (20-9): Scranton’s matchup with Buffalo in Trenton was postponed due to rain. The Bisons and RailRiders will play a doubleheader tomorrow.

Somerset Patriots (20-11): The Patriots jumped out to a quick 2-0 but relinquished it down the stretch and lost their second straight to Erie, 4-2.
- Star of the Game: Oswaldo Cabrera – 2-for-4, 1 home run (4), 1 double, 2 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout. Cabrera returned to the Somerset lineup after a stint with his national team Venezuela at the Olympic qualifiers in Florida
- Oswald Peraza: 1-for-3, 1 run scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout. Peraza picked up his first Double-A hit
- Diego Castillo: 2-for-4, 1 strikeout
- Dermis Garcia: 0-for-4, 3 strikeouts
- Isiah Gilliam: 1-for-4, 1 double, 1 stolen base
- JP Sears: 3.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 5 K, 59 pitches (32 strikes)
- Ron Marinaccio: 2.1 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 46 pitches (29 strikes)
- Keegan Curtis: 1.1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 26 pitches (17 strikes)
- Stephen Ridings: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 18 pitches (14 strikes). RIP scoreless streak – Ridings finally gave up an earned run in his ninth appearance. But he did strike out the side, too


Hudson Valley Renegades (16-14): Some big home runs led the Renegades to a 3-2 win over Brooklyn in the first game of the twin bill. HV then dropped the second game 5-3.
Game 1
- Star of the Game: Josh Smith – 1-for-3, 1 home run (1), 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 2 strikeouts. Making his Renegades debut, Smith led off the game under the bright lights in NYC with a solo bomb. The 2019 second-round pick has put together one of the most impressive all-around seasons in the system
- Ezequiel Duran: 1-for-3, 1 home run (5), 2 RBI, 1 run scored. Duran’s two-run shot broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning. With Oswald Peraza now in Somerset, it’s up to Duran to set the pace
- Josh Breaux: 0-for-3, 1 strikeout
- Anthony Seigler: 0-for-3
- Jhony Brito: 4 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, 68 pitches (46 strikes). Brito has put together a strong season, striking out 26 and walking four in six starts
- Tanner Myatt: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K, 19 pitches (11 strikes). Myatt picked up his first win
- Nelson L. Alvarez: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 25 pitches (13 strikes)
- Justin Wilson: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 12 pitches (8 strikes). Wilson held serve in a scoreless ninth for his first save

- Star of the Game: Kyle MacDonald – 1-for-2, 1 home run (4), 2 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout. MacDonald went deep in the second inning as part of a three-run frame

- Frederick Cuevas: 1-for-3, 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 run scored
- Luis Medina: 5 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 80 pitches (48 strikes). Medina was not at his best on Wednesday and saw his ERA rise from 1.63 to 2.76
- Nick Ernst: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K, 20 pitches (11 strikes)


Tampa Tarpons (22-9): The Tarpons jumped on Clearwater early and got just enough from their pitching to close out an 11-8 win.
- Star of the Game: Trevor Hauver: 2-for-4, 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 2 walks, 1 strikeout. It’s been awhile since Hauver was featured in this space – but it’s not like he’s fallen off a cliff, as he lifted his average back over .300 with the multi-hit game on Wednesday
- Anthony Volpe: 1-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 3 walks, 1 stolen base
- Austin Wells: 1-for-5, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 2 strikeouts
- Andres Chaparro: 1-for-3, 1 home run (3), 1 RBI, 2 runs scored, 2 walks
- Elijah Dunham: 1-for-3, 1 RBI, 2 runs scored, 3 walks, 1 strikeout, 2 stolen bases
- Carlos Narvaez: 2-for-5, 2 runs scored, 2 strikeouts
- Pat DeMarco: 1-for-4, 1 double, 2 RBI, 1 walk

- Trevor Holloway: 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K, 37 pitches (24 strikes). A quiet multi-inning save kept Holloway’s strong season going
