Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (16-27): They walked nine Jacksonville hitters, but the Scranton staff did just enough to preserve a 2-1 win.

  • Star of the Game: Jose Peraza – 1-for-3, 1 home run (2), 1 RBI, 1 run scored. Peraza’s second long ball of the season tied the game at one in the fifth inning
  • Oswald Peraza: 2-for-4, 1 RBI, 1 stolen base. The Perazas supplied all the offense for Scranton. Oswald’s base hit in the eighth provided the margin of victory

  • Hayden Wesneski: 5.1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 5 BB, 4 K, 91 pitches (53 strikes). Wesneski’s command betrayed him somewhat in this one, but he didn’t do too much damage to his ERA, which now sits at 2.23

  • Trevor Lane: 0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 1 K, 23 pitches (13 strikes)

  • Andres Chaparro: 1-for-4, 1 home run (6), 2 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout. Chaparro’s homer gave the Patriots an early 2-0 lead
  • Brandon Lockridge: 2-for-4, 1 double, 1 strikeout
  • Sean Boyle: 5 IP, 8 H, 7 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, 88 pitches (59 strikes). Boyle was victimized by two home runs

  • Star of the Game: Spencer Henson – 2-for-3, 1 home run (4), 4 RBI, 3 runs scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout. Henson’s three-run blast with two outs in the sixth inning reversed a one-run deficit

  • Eric Wagaman: 2-for-4, 1 home run (3), 2 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk. Wagaman has posted a healthy .956 OPS

  • Ryan Miller: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K, 11 pitches (9 strikes). Miller was dominant in his second appearance with HV after not pitching in a counting game since 2019

Yon Castro (John Brophy/Pinstriped Prospects)

Tampa Tarpons (20-21): The Tarpons trounced Lakeland 7-0 and allowed a single hit in the doubleheader’s first leg, but that was just an appetizer. They won the second game 4-0 thanks to a no-hitter from Yorlin Calderon.

Game 1

  • Star of the Game: Anthony Garcia – 1-for-3, 1 home run (9), 3 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts. Garcia struck the big blow in a seven-run sixth inning and added to his team-leading home run total
  • Antonio Gomez: 3-for-4, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout
  • Grant Richardson: 1-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout
  • Yon Castro: 6 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 9 K, 87 pitches (58 strikes). Amazing that this wasn’t even the best Tampa pitching performance of the day
  • Zach Messinger: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K, 26 pitches (14 strikes)

Game 2

  • Star of the Game: Yorlin Calderon – 7 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 7 K, 83 pitches (48 strikes). Calderon was making his season debut and just his second-ever appearance in full-season ball. It’s not an official no-hitter because of the seven-inning game, but it counts for all us fans
  • Alex Vargas: 1-for-3, 1 double, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout, 1 stolen base
  • Benjamin Cowles: 1-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 stolen base
  • Connor Cannon: 1-for-1, 1 RBI, 1 run scored
