Pinstriped Performances: Peraza Makes The Jump

Many Yankees fans will sleep better tonight knowing Oswald Peraza is on his way to the Bronx, but he didn’t miss his chance for one final salvo before departing the RailRiders.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (66-59): Scranton dropped the doubleheader opener to Syracuse 4-1; it took awhile, but they managed to take the nightcap 3-2 in 10 innings.

Game 1

  • Star of the Game: Oswald Peraza – 1-for-2, 1 home run (19), 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout. Before he was pulled from the game to be promoted to the Yankees, Peraza hit a solo home run for good measure
  • Josh Breaux: 2-for-3
  • Mitch Spence: 5.2 IP, 10 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 87 pitches (59 strikes). Spence fell to 1-2
  • Michael Gomez: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K, 26 pitches (14 strikes)

Game 2

  • Star of the Game: Ryan LaMarre – 2-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 stolen base. With one out in the fourth extra inning, LaMarre came through with a sac fly to center, scoring Phillip Evans with the winning run
  • Chad Bell: 1-for-3, 1 home run (1), 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 2 strikeouts. Bell’s homer was his first in Triple-A this season
  • Chi Chi Gonzalez: 3.1 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 72 pitches (47 strikes)
  • Jose Mujica: 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 1 K, 27 pitches (14 strikes)
  • Zach Greene: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K, 23 pitches (17 strikes)
  • Luke Bard: 2 IP, 1 H, 1 R (0 ER), 1 BB, 4 K, 39 pitches (22 strikes)
  • Richard Rodriguez: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K, 15 pitches (11 strikes). Rodriguez struck out the side in the 10th to take home the win

Yoendrys Gomez (Robert M. Pimpsner)

Somerset Patriots (74-47): Binghamton threatened in the ninth, but the Patriots held on for a 4-3 win despite leaving 11 runners on base.

  • Star of the Game: Everson Pereira – 3-for-5, 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 run scored. Pereira slugged a healthy .517 in August
  • Anthony Volpe: 1-for-5, 1 triple, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout
  • Andres Chaparro: 2-for-5, 1 double, 1 run scored, 2 strikeouts
  • Brandon Lockridge: 3-for-5, 2 RBI
  • Mickey Gasper: 2-for-4, 2 doubles, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout
  • Yoendrys Gomez: 3.1 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 61 pitches (35 strikes). The 22-year-old made his Double-A debut
  • Shawn Semple: 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 16 pitches (12 strikes). Semple earned the win
  • Steven Jennings: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 20 pitches (13 strikes)
  • Tanner Myatt: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K, 16 pitches (10 strikes)
  • Aaron McGarity: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K, 19 pitches (12 strikes)
  • Carson Coleman: 1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 26 pitches (16 strikes). Coleman bent but did not break in picking up his 13th save

RHP Richard Fitts (John Brophy/Pinstriped Prospects)

Hudson Valley Renegades (67-55): The ‘Gades bounced back nicely from yesterday’s deflating sweep and dominated Jersey Shore start to finish in an 8-0 win.

  • Star of the Game: Richard Fitts – 5.2 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K, 86 pitches (58 strikes). Fitts has more than impressed in his four starts with the Renegades. The last three have been wins, and he’s racked up 30 strikeouts against just three walks over 26.1 innings
  • Trey Sweeney: 1-for-3, 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 2 walks, 1 stolen base
  • Tyler Hardman: 1-for-5, 1 double, 2 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout
  • Grant Richardson: 1-for-4, 1 RBI, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts
  • Aaron Palensky: 2-for-3, 1 double, 1 RBI, 2 runs scored, 1 strikeout
  • Bailey Dees: 2.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K, 27 pitches (19 strikes). Dees received the rare honor of a scorekeeper’s save for an appearance that did not end the ballgame
  • Enrique Santana: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K, 10 pitches (5 strikes)

Tampa Tarpons (59-61): The Tarpons led Dunedin 2-1 in the top of the second inning when Thursday’s game was suspended. It will resume tomorrow.
