Fresh off his jump into the number five position on MLB Pipeline’s rankings of Yankee prospects, Everson Pereira showed why he’s turned so many heads. The second-half first place in the Sally League North division changes hands once again.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (59-53): Perhaps feeling the hangover from their epic comeback, the RailRiders were blanked by St. Paul, 6-0.

  • Star of the Game: None
  • Oswald Peraza: 1-for-4, 1 strikeout
  • Ben Rortvedt: 1-for-4, 1 strikeout
  • Clarke Schmidt: 4.2 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 7 K, 79 pitches (50 strikes). Schmidt has a 3.27 ERA
  • Carlos Espinal: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 3 R (2 ER), 3 BB, 3 K, 45 pitches (24 strikes)

Somerset Patriots (68-41): Somerset prevailed over Bowie in a back-and-forth affair, 10-9.

  • Star of the Game: Everson Pereira – 3-for-4, 2 home runs (3), 1 double, 5 RBI, 2 runs scored, 1 walk. Pereira, whose ninth inning solo blast provided the winning run, is slugging .750 in five games so far this month
  • Andres Chaparro: 2-for-4, 1 home run (12), 3 RBI, 1 run scored, 2 strikeouts. Chaparro has homered in three straight games and four of his last five
  • Eric Wagaman: 1-for-3, 1 home run (2), 2 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk
  • Will Warren: 5.1 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 9 K, 85 pitches (56 strikes). Warren tied his season high for strikeouts, set on April 21

  • Emmanuel Ramirez: 2.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K, 41 pitches (25 strikes). Ramirez moved to 4-1 with tonight’s win

Hudson Valley Renegades (58-51): They mounted a spirited rally in the ninth, but the ‘Gades fell short in a 7-5 loss to Brooklyn that catapulted them out of first place in the division.

  • Star of the Game: Tyler Hardman – 2-for-5, 1 home run (17), 1 double, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored, 2 strikeouts. Hardman leads the ‘Gades with 17 homers on the year and ranks fourth with 12 doubles
  • Jasson Dominguez: 2-for-5, 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 2 strikeouts
  • TJ Rumfield: 2-for-3, 1 double, 1 RBI, 2 walks, 1 strikeout
  • Juan Carela: 2.2 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 72 pitches (42 strikes). Carela suffered his first loss at High-A, evening his record at 1-1
  • Jhonatan Munoz: 2.1 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 39 pitches (26 strikes)
  • Nelson L. Alvarez: 2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 24 pitches (16 strikes)
  • Ryan Miller: 1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 18 pitches (11 strikes)

Raimfer Salinas (Robert M. Pimpsner)

Tampa Tarpons (51-57): A four-run seventh inning doomed the Tarpons to a 7-3 loss to visiting Bradenton.

  • Star of the Game: Raimfer Salinas – 1-for-3, 1 home run (5), 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 2 strikeouts. Salinas, trudging through a disappointing campaign, has homered in his last three games

  • Sean Hermann: 5 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 82 pitches (57 strikes). Hermann has been bitten by the home run bug, serving up five long balls in three starts this month
  • Ryan Anderson: 1 IP, 0 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 29 pitches (12 strikes). Anderson fell to 2-7 with the loss
  • Nick Paciorek: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 0 K, 10 pitches (7 strikes)
  • Trevor Holloway: 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K, 30 pitches (20 strikes)

DSL Yankees (27-27): The Yanks and Cubs Blue finished up their suspended game from August 5, with the Yanks emerging victorious, 5-3.

  • Star of the Game: Alejandro Gomez – 4 IP, 1 H, 1 R (0 ER), 3 BB, 6 K. Gomez got the win, his third of the year, for his long relief appearance
  • Roderick Arias: 1-for-3, 1 double, 1 RBI, 2 runs scored, 1 walk, 1 stolen base
  • Keiner Delgado: 1-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 walk
  • Sabier Marte: 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R (0 ER), 0 BB, 0 K

DSL Bombers (26-29): The Bombers lost to the Reds, 11-9 in 10 innings.
