Scranton continued its march towards an improbable postseason berth as the three upper-level affiliates crushed nine home runs between them on Tuesday.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (55-50): Worcester ran headfirst into the Scranton buzzsaw as the RailRiders triumphed 10-2 to open the week.

  • Star of the Game: Chris Owings – 3-for-4, 1 home run (2), 1 double, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored. The veteran journeyman opened the scoring for Scranton with a solo home run in the third as they quickly reversed a 2-0 deficit
  • Estevan Florial: 2-for-5, 1 RBI, 2 runs scored, 1 strikeout, 1 stolen base
  • Tyler Wade: 1-for-4, 1 home run (2), 2 RBI, 2 runs scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout, 1 stolen base
  • Oswaldo Cabrera: 2-for-5, 2 RBI
  • Phillip Evans: 1-for-3, 1 home run (8), 1 RBI, 2 runs scored, 1 walk
  • Michael Beltre: 2-for-4, 1 home run (2), 2 RBI, 2 runs scored, 1 strikeout
  • Matt Krook: 6 IP, 3 H, 2 R (0 ER), 5 BB, 6 K, 87 pitches (54 strikes). Krook continues to struggle with walks, but largely dominated the Red Sox en route to his seventh win

Somerset Patriots (63-39): The Patriots rallied for a 3-1 win over Hartford.

  • Star of the Game: Eric Wagaman – 1-for-3, 1 home run (1), 1 RBI, 1 run scored. Wagaman, promoted from High-A earlier in the day, hit a solo home run with two outs in the seventh inning to provide a valuable insurance run
  • Anthony Volpe: 2-for-4, 1 RBI. Volpe drove in the tying run in the fifth
  • Jeisson Rosario: 1-for-3, 1 home run (7), 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout. Rosario’s solo homer put the Patriots in front
  • Randy Vasquez: 5.2 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K, 96 pitches (60 strikes)
  • Aaron McGarity: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K, 14 pitches (10 strikes). McGarity got his second win of the year
  • Matt Minnick: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K, 16 pitches (10 strikes)
  • Carson Coleman: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K, 12 pitches (6 strikes). Coleman has reached double-digit saves

Hudson Valley Renegades (55-47): Three solo home runs were enough for the ‘Gades to hold off Aberdeen, 3-2.

  • Star of the Game: Tyler Hardman – 2-for-4, 1 home run (15), 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 2 strikeouts. Hardman leads the team with 15 homers and has also amassed 55 RBI
  • Grant Richardson: 1-for-3, 1 home run (4), 1 RBI, 1 run scored. Richardson gave the Renegades a 2-1 lead with his home run in the fifth
  • Spencer Henson: 1-for-3, 1 home run (9), 1 RBI, 1 run scored
  • Yoendrys Gomez: 4.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K, 55 pitches (34 strikes)
  • Shawn Semple: 3 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 60 pitches (37 strikes). Semple is 2-0 with Hudson Valley
  • Carlos Gomez: 1.1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 27 pitches (19 strikes). Gomez got his second save

Tampa Tarpons (49-52): Tampa fell flat in the first game of the series, losing 9-1 to the Blue Jays.

  • Spencer Jones: 0-for-4, 2 strikeouts. Jones made his full-season debut
  • Marcos Cabrera: 1-for-3, 1 strikeout. Cabrera hadn’t appeared in a game since July 17
  • Raimfer Salinas: 1-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 strikeout
  • Tyrone Yulie: 4 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 5 BB, 1 K, 79 pitches (44 strikes). Yulie’s loss brought his record to 3-4
  • Bailey Dees: 2.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K, 37 pitches (24 strikes)
  • Nick Paciorek: 0.1 IP, 2 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 1 K, 22 pitches (10 strikes)

FCL Yankees (30-13): The Yankees and Phillies finished up their suspended game from August 2 with the Phillies winning 4-3. The day’s regularly scheduled game was itself suspended in the third inning with the score tied 1-1 and will be picked up tomorrow.

  • Star of the Game: Alfred Vega – 3.1 IP, 0 H, 1 R (0 ER), 0 BB, 4 K. Vega has put up a 1.35 ERA in 9.2 innings this season

DSL Yankees (22-25): The Yanks gave up a six-spot in the seventh inning of a 7-2 loss to Cubs Blue.

DSL Bombers (24-24): The Pirates Gold jumped on the Bombers early and sent them to a 7-4 loss.
