Pinstriped Performances: Rookie Tuesday

The full-season affiliates took the day off after playing on the holiday, so in an unusual change, the rookie affiliates owned the second day of the work week – and all three emerged victorious.

FCL Yankees (16-6): The Yankees broke a tie with a big eighth inning and held off a late charge from the Phillies to win their matchup 5-4.

  • Star of the Game: Sean Hermann – 5.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K. Hermann rattled off his third fine start in a row, and his ERA sits at a healthy 2.91 overall
  • Oswaldo Cabrera: 1-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout. Cabrera, who last played for Scranton on May 8, continued his rehab assignment
  • Agustin Ramirez: 1-for-4, 1 RBI
  • Daury Arias: 1-for-4, 1 double, 1 strikeout
  • Luis Arejula: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K
  • Sebastian Perrone: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. Perrone moved to 3-0 with the win
  • Leam Mendez: 1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K. Mendez bent but did not break and earned his second save of the year

DSL Yankees (10-14): A career day from Willy Montero led the Yanks to a 12-5 drubbing of Mets 1.

  • Star of the Game: Willy Montero – 3-for-5, 1 home run (2), 1 triple, 5 RBI, 2 runs scored. Montero came just a double shy of the cycle and is hitting .309 on the season
  • Keiner Delgado: 1-for-3, 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 2 walks
  • Louis Pierre: 1-for-4, 1 home run (1), 2 RBI, 2 runs scored, 2 strikeouts. Pierre’s homer was the first of his professional career
  • Jhon Imbert: 2-for-3, 1 double, 2 RBI, 3 runs scored, 2 walks, 1 strikeout, 1 stolen base
  • Henry Lalane: 5 IP, 4 H, 2 R (0 ER), 2 BB, 6 K. Lalane is 2-1 on the year with the win
  • Donys Garcia: 2 IP, 1 H, 3 R (2 ER), 3 BB, 1 K
  • Franyer Herrera: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K
  • Domingo Feliz: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K

DSL Bombers (15-9): The Bombers scored early and often in an 8-4 defeat of Pirates Black.

  • Star of the Game: Joel Mendez – 1-for-3, 1 home run (1), 3 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk. Mendez showed off some of the power he displayed often last season, when he hit seven homers in 49 games
  • Hans Montero: 2-for-4, 1 triple, 1 run scored, 1 walk
  • Enger Castellano: 2-for-3, 1 double, 3 RBI, 2 walks, 1 stolen base
  • Edinson Duran: 2-for-3, 2 doubles, 2 RBI, 1 walk
  • Gerardo Abrego: 2.2 IP, 0 H, 1 R (0 ER), 5 BB, 2 K
  • Edwar Polimir: 3.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K. Polimir took home a well-deserved win for his efforts, and he’s struck out 18 in 10.2 innings this year
  • Keninson Diaz: 0.2 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 1 K
  • Chalniel Arias: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K. Another stalwart pitching performance for the Bombers – Arias now has three saves and a 2.16 ERA on the year
