Pinstriped Performances: Rooks Run Wild

The FCL Yankees exploded for 22 runs in a drubbing of the Tigers, while the full-season affiliates had quiet nights offensively.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (29-41): It was all about the pitching for Scranton – the staff struck out 14 Mud Hens and allowed just two hits in a 2-0 win.

  • Star of the Game: Matt Krook – 5 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 8 K, 55 pitches (39 strikes). Krook tossed five perfect innings as a bulk reliever and earned this honor for the second straight appearance, along with a win
  • Estevan Florial: 1-for-4, 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 strikeout
  • Miguel Andujar: 3-for-4, 1 home run (6), 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout. Andujar came a triple short of the cycle and maintains an .849 OPS
  • Ryan Weber: 3.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K, 52 pitches (34 strikes)
  • Shane Greene: 0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K, 10 pitches (7 strikes)

Somerset Patriots (42-25): Hartford has the advantage in the battle for Eastern League supremacy as they defeated the Patriots 5-2 on Aroldis Chapman’s first night of rehab.

  • Star of the Game: Mickey Gasper – 1-for-3, 1 home run (4), 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk
  • Star of the Game: Michael Beltre – 1-for-3, 1 home run (3), 1 RBI, 1 run scored. Gasper and Beltre went back-to-back in the fifth inning to briefly put the Patriots back into the game
  • Elijah Dunham: 2-for-3, 1 walk, 1 strikeout, 1 stolen base
  • Randy Vasquez: 6 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 95 pitches (71 strikes). Vasquez suffered his second loss
  • Aroldis Chapman: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 8 pitches (5 strikes). A short but effective rehab outing for Chapman, who hadn’t pitched in a game since May 22
  • Nick Ernst: 1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, 21 pitches (13 strikes)
  • Tanner Myatt: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K, 23 pitches (14 strikes)

Hudson Valley Renegades (34-33): Despite another solid effort from Beck Way, the ‘Gades couldn’t find much firepower offensively and lost to Winston-Salem 2-1.

  • Star of the Game: Beck Way – 5.2 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 84 pitches (53 strikes). A solo homer was the only real blemish on Way’s ledger, and the 22-year-old righty has four straight good starts in a solid month of June
  • Anthony Seigler: 2-for-4, 1 double
  • Tyler Hardman: 1-for-4, 1 home run (8), 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout. Hardman is hitting .343 with five home runs this month
  • Spencer Henson: 1-for-3, 1 double, 2 strikeouts
  • Carlos Gomez: 2 IP, 4 H, 1 R (0 ER), 1 BB, 0 K, 43 pitches (28 strikes). Gomez took the loss to fall to 0-2
  • Nelvin Correa: 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K, 1 pitch (1 strike)

Tampa Tarpons (27-39): Tampa’s matchup with Clearwater was rained out and will be made up tomorrow.

FCL Yankees (9-5): The Yankees scored 17 runs over a two-inning stretch to cruise to a 22-5 win over the Tigers.

  • Star of the Game: Felix Negueis – 1-for-2, 1 home run (3), 4 RBI, 3 runs scored, 1 walk. Negueis hit a grand slam in the fifth inning and has homered three times in two weeks
  • Kelvin Espino: 2-for-2, 1 home run (2), 1 RBI, 1 run scored
  • Agustin Ramirez: 2-for-6, 1 double, 2 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout
  • Alex Guerrero: 1-for-4, 1 home run (1), 2 RBI, 3 runs scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout. Guerrero has only played six games this year and is hitting .190 overall
  • Nelson Medina: 3-for-3, 1 triple, 3 RBI, 3 runs scored, 2 walks
  • Brenny Escanio: 2-for-4, 3 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout
  • Luis Serna: 3.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R (1 ER), 0 BB, 8 K
  • Sebastian Perrone: 1.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R (1 ER), 0 BB, 1 K. Perrone earned the win
  • Leam Mendez: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K
  • Steven Fulgencio: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K

DSL Yankees (5-10): The Yankees gave up nine runs over the final four innings to slump to a 10-3 defeat to Pirates Gold.

  • Star of the Game: Juan Matheus – 1-for-3, 1 home run (2), 2 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk. Matheus is slugging .667
