Pinstriped Performances: Tarpons Snap Losing Streak

Tampa and Somerset scored wins on Friday night, while Scranton suffered yet another loss.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (13-26): The RailRiders lost their fourth game in a row to Worcester, 6-2.

  • Star of the Game: Oswald Peraza – 2-for-4, 1 home run (4), 2 RBI, 2 runs scored. Peraza supplied all the Scranton offense in this one
  • Ronald Guzman: 2-for-4
  • Deivi Garcia: 2.1 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 44 pitches (25 strikes). Garcia still has yet to put together a quality start this season
  • Vinny Nittoli: 0.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K, 15 pitches (9 strikes)
  • JP Sears: 4.2 IP, 0 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K, 64 pitches (41 strikes). Sears appeared out of the ‘pen for the second time at Triple-A this season and pitched very well
  • Zach Greene: 0.1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 24 pitches (13 strikes)

Somerset Patriots (24-12): The Patriots have won three of the first four games against Reading, winning Friday’s matchup by a 6-2 score.

  • Star of the Game: Oliver Dunn – 2-for-4, 1 home run (2), 1 triple, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored. Dunn sports a .429 batting average through seven games
  • Rodolfo Duran: 1-for-4, 1 home run (3), 2 RBI, 1 run scored, 2 strikeouts. Duran is hitting .300 in his first eight games in the Yankees system
  • Blake Perkins: 2-for-2, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 2 walks, 1 stolen base
  • Randy Vasquez: 5.1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, 72 pitches (52 strikes). Vasquez has pitched to a 2.19 ERA
  • Nick Ernst: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 27 pitches (17 strikes). Ernst got the win despite also blowing a save
  • Barrett Loseke: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 8 pitches (6 strikes)
  • Jose Mujica: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K, 17 pitches (11 strikes)

Hudson Valley Renegades (16-19): HV’s tilt against Brooklyn was postponed. They’ll play a doubleheader on Sunday.

Tampa Tarpons (15-21): The Tarpons finally got back in the win column, defeating St. Lucie 7-3.

  • Star of the Game: Benjamin Cowles – 1-for-4, 1 home run (3), 2 RBI, 1 run scored, 2 strikeouts. Cowles went deep in the second inning to tie the game at two
  • Jasson Dominguez: 1-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout
  • Anthony Garcia: 1-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout
  • Grant Richardson: 2-for-4, 1 double, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout
  • Juan Carela: 5.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R (2 ER), 4 BB, 6 K, 87 pitches (55 strikes). Carela has pitched into the sixth inning in four consecutive starts and has struck out at least five in each of them
  • Danny Watson: 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K, 30 pitches (17 strikes). Watson earned his second win of the year
  • Jack Neely: 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K, 28 pitches (15 strikes)
