Somerset bounced back after a tough Friday night thanks to Blake Perkins’ heroics. Scranton is suddenly stacking wins, while Tampa’s offense is as ice cold as it gets.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (7-9): A winning streak! Scranton downed Buffalo 7-4 behind two early home runs.

  • Star of the Game: Greg Bird – 1-for-2, 1 home run (2), 3 RBI, 2 runs scored, 2 walks. Bird’s three-run shot in the third inning gave the RailRiders a 6-0 lead
  • Oswaldo Cabrera: 2-for-4, 1 double, 2 runs scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout
  • Miguel Andujar: 2-for-4, 1 run scored, 1 walk
  • Jose Peraza: 2-for-4, 1 home run (1), 2 RBI, 1 run scored. Peraza opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the first inning
  • Matt Krook: 4.1 IP, 3 H, 3 R (2 ER), 6 BB, 7 K, 89 pitches (51 strikes). Krook has struck out 26 but also walked 10 in his four starts
  • Zach Greene: 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K, 23 pitches (17 strikes). Greene picked up the win to move to 2-0 on the year
  • Trevor Lane: 1.2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 31 pitches (19 strikes)
  • Greg Weissert: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K, 22 pitches (17 strikes). Weissert recorded his second save

Somerset Patriots (8-6): Blake Perkins went deep twice and the Patriots rolled to a 7-4 win at Hartford.

  • Star of the Game: Blake Perkins – 3-for-5, 2 home runs (4), 4 RBI, 3 runs scored, 1 strikeout. Perkins hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning that erased a 3-2 deficit, and followed that up with a solo shot in the seventh. He’s put up an impressive slash line of .351/.415/.838 this season
  • Anthony Volpe: 1-for-4, 1 run scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout, 1 stolen base
  • Derek Dietrich: 2-for-4, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout
  • Mickey Gasper: 2-for-5, 1 double
  • Chad Bell: 3-for-4, 1 RBI, 1 strikeout
  • Ken Waldichuk: 4.1 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 70 pitches (43 strikes). Waldichuk stumbled a bit on Saturday, serving up two bombs
  • Kyle Zurak: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R (0 ER), 1 BB, 3 K, 42 pitches (24 strikes). Zurak was the winning pitcher
  • Steven Jennings: 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K, 39 pitches (29 strikes). Jennings earned the save for yeoman’s work in relief

Hudson Valley Renegades (7-7): ‘Gades pitching held Brooklyn to just one hit in a 2-0 triumph.

  • Star of the Game: Edgar Barclay – 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K, 50 pitches (36 strikes). Barclay dominated the Cyclones for the second time this week, this time as a starter
  • Everson Pereira: 1-for-4, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout
  • Aldenis Sanchez: 1-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 stolen base
  • Tanner Myatt: 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K, 37 pitches (25 strikes). Myatt got his first win of the season
  • Carson Coleman: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K, 37 pitches (21 strikes). Coleman has two saves in as many opportunities and has yet to surrender a run

Tampa Tarpons (6-8): The Tarpons’ bats have stalled out badly of late, as they were shut out by the Threshers for the second consecutive evening, this time by a 3-0 margin.

  • Star of the Game: Josue Panacual – 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 1 K, 71 pitches (43 strikes). Panacual kept Clearwater at bay with an efficient start and carries a 2.31 ERA
  • Jasson Dominguez: 0-for-4, 4 strikeouts. A golden sombrero for Dominguez, whose OPS sits at an unsightly .496
  • Antonio Gomez: 1-for-3, 1 double, 2 strikeouts
  • Kevin Milam: 1 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 26 pitches (19 strikes). Milam took the loss
  • Danny Watson: 2 IP, 0 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 1 K, 22 pitches (11 strikes)
