Scranton closes out the 2021 season with a five-game stint at Rochester, and it began with a win on Wednesday.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (71-52): The RailRiders took an 8-3 lead through three and held on the rest of the way to defeat the Red Wings 10-6.
- Star of the Game: Greg Allen – 2-for-4, 1 home run (5), 4 RBI, 2 runs scored, 1 walk. A hero of the early-August Yankees resurgence, Allen has also hit well at Triple-A, putting together a .330/.447/.474 slash line in 70 games
- Pitching Star of the Game: Matt Krook – 5 IP, 3 H, 3 R (0 ER), 2 BB, 7 K, 88 pitches (52 strikes). Krook’s September tear continues: he’s put up a miniscule 0.64 ERA and has struck out 31 in 28 innings this month
- Estevan Florial: 0-for-5, 3 strikeouts
- Oswaldo Cabrera: 2-for-3, 3 runs scored, 2 walks, 1 strikeout. In his late-season cameo, Cabrera is hitting an unbelievable .556 and has staked his claim to a Triple-A roster spot next season, if not a 40-man spot
- Ryan LaMarre: 2-for-5, 1 RBI, 2 runs scored, 1 strikeout
- Max McDowell: 1-for-3, 2 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk
- Kyle Holder: 1-for-4, 1 double, 3 RBI
- Braden Bristo: 0.2 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 26 pitches (15 strikes)
- Greg Weissert: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 2 K, 41 pitches (21 strikes)
- Nick Goody: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K, 16 pitches (11 strikes)
- Nick Nelson: 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R (0 ER), 0 BB, 0 K, 14 pitches (7 strikes)
