Pinstriped Performances: Winning The Battle

There’s nothing quite like an undrafted free agent coming aboard and stealing the show. Kyle Battle has had a fantastic run of late, headlining our Rookie Monday recap.

FCL Yankees (29-14): The Yanks topped Tigers East 5-2 thanks to four home runs.

  • Star of the Game: Kyle Battle – 1-for-4, 1 home run (3), 1 RBI, 2 runs scored, 2 strikeouts. Battle, out of Old Dominion, has a hit in four straight games and is slugging .533
  • Raimfer Salinas: 2-for-4, 1 home run (4), 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 stolen base. Salinas hasn’t had the greatest year – this was his first home run since August 2
  • Agustin Ramirez: 1-for-4, 1 home run (2), 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout. Ramirez has been on fire lately. He’s 9 for his last 19 with two home runs, six doubles, and five RBI
  • Jose Martinez: 1-for-2, 1 home run (2), 2 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk
  • Alfred Vega: 4 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K
  • Wilser Barrios: 2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K. Barrios picked up the win
  • Yoljeldriz Diaz: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K. Diaz recorded his first save of 2021

DSL Yankees 1 (20-18): The Yankees dropped Monday’s contest to the Rockies 5-2.

  • Star of the Game: Nolberto Henriquez – 6 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K. Henriquez hadn’t pitched into the sixth inning this year prior to today
  • Hans Montero: 0-for-2, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk
  • Felix Negueis: 1-for-4, 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 strikeout
  • Manuel Palencia: 1-for-3, 1 stolen base
  • Ruben Castillo: 2 IP, 3 H, 3 R (2 ER), 0 BB, 1 K

DSL Yankees 2 (19-19): The Yanks scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game up, then beat Diamondbacks 2 in ten innings 9-8.

  • Star of the Game: Joel Mendez – 2-for-5, 1 double, 3 RBI, 1 run scored, 2 strikeouts. With one out in the ninth, Mendez’s double cleared the bases to tie the game at 7
  • Daury Arias: 2-for-4, 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk, 1 stolen base
  • Nicolas Garcia: 1-for-3, 1 double, 3 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts
  • Miguel Torres: 1-for-1, 1 double, 2 RBI. Torres had the walk-off double in the bottom of the 10th 
  • Brian Arias: 2 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
  • Jan Pena: 4 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
  • Franyer Hernandez: 3 IP, 2 H, 1 R (0 ER), 2 BB, 2 K
  • Riordan Oropeza: 1 IP, 0 H, 1 R (0 ER), 1 BB, 1 K
