Welcome to the Pinstriped Prospects Mailbag. If you have a question on any of the New York Yankees prospects or the Yankees minor league affiliates in general send it to us and you could be featured!
Michael from NJ:
Can Eric Jagielo stick at 3rd base? His left- handed power is most valuable to Yankees at 3rd, but I’ve heard his defense is highly questionable.
Jagielo is a serviceable third baseman, he isn’t going to win any gold gloves but is good enough to be MLB average. For him I would suspect the Yankees or any team would deal with the average defense to have that bat in the lineup. There are chances later in his career he would move over to first, but that is years down the line.
Katie from NJ:
Which 2014 Trenton Thunder player is most likely to make his Yankee debut first?
Well I assume we are not counting guys like Bryan Mitchell who already made their MLB debut. The top choice is Rob Refsnyder, who has the opportunity to battle for the starting second base job in the spring. But my gut is going with one of the guys just added to the Yankees 40-man roster likely Danny Burawa and Branden Pinder.
That is it for this week’s edition of the Pinstriped Prospects mailbag. If you have a question feel free to send it to us here.
