Pinstriped Prospects: RailRiding

Make it four authoritative wins in a row to start the weekly series for Scranton. The other full-season affiliates had a tougher time of things on Friday.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (59-37): Scranton again had no problem whatsoever with Lehigh Valley, winning this one 11-4.

  • Star of the Game: Max McDowell – 3-for-5, 1 double, 4 RBI, 3 runs scored, 1 strikeout. McDowell drove in two runs in the second and two more in the third to pace the RailRiders offense
  • Jonathan Davis: 1-for-4, 2 RBI, 1 run scored, 2 strikeouts
  • Greg Allen: 3-for-4, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout, 1 stolen base
  • Armando Alvarez: 2-for-5, 1 run scored, 2 strikeouts
  • Max Burt: 2-for-4, 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout, 1 stolen base

Somerset Patriots (58-41): A close contest saw Somerset lose to Akron in extra innings 4-2.

  • Star of the Game: Jhony Brito – 6.1 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 7 K, 92 pitches (63 strikes). Brito kept the Patriots in the game and lowered his Double-A ERA to 3.94
  • Josh Breaux: 1-for-5, 1 double, 1 strikeout
  • Dermis Garcia: 1-for-3, 1 run scored, 1 walk
  • Mickey Gasper: 1-for-3, 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 run scored
  • Kevin Gadea: 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 4 K, 38 pitches (18 strikes)
  • Nick Ernst: 2 IP, 1 H, 2 R (1 ER), 1 BB, 4 K, 39 pitches (23 strikes)

Hudson Valley Renegades (61-38): The Renegades put up a fight after going down 5-0, but lost the game 5-3 to Winston-Salem.

  • Star of the Game: Carlos Narvaez – 1-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout. Narvaez recorded the only RBI of the night for a quiet HV offense
  • Elijah Dunham: 1-for-5, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout
  • Austin Wells: 1-for-2, 1 run scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout
  • Mitch Spence: 6.2 IP, 9 H, 5 R (4 ER), 2 BB, 4 K, 50 pitches (36 strikes)
  • Derek Craft: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 6 pitches (6 strikes)

Tampa Tarpons (65-32): Tampa was supposed to play a doubleheader, but only managed to get one game in and lost that game 6-3 to Clearwater.

  • Star of the Game: Cooper Bowman – 1-for-4, 1 home run (3), 3 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout. Bowman’s eighth-inning blast was the only Tampa offense on the day
  • Jasson Dominguez: 1-for-4, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout
  • Ben Rice: 1-for-2, 1 run scored, 1 walk, 1 strikeout
  • Yon Castro: 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 4 K, 53 pitches (28 strikes)
  • Clay Aguilar: 4 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K, 64 pitches (38 strikes). Aguilar’s ERA is down to 2.70 after a terrific relief appearance
  • Kenlly Montas: 0.2 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 0 K, 34 pitches (17 strikes)
  • Enrique Santana: 0.2 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 19 pitches (9 strikes)

FCL Yankees (26-13): The Yanks couldn’t overcome an early deficit and lost to the Phillies 4-3.

  • Star of the Game: Agustin Ramirez – 2-for-3, 2 doubles, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout. The 19-year-old supplied most of the Yanks’ offense on Friday and doubled his extra-base hit total on the year
  • Alex Guerrero: 1-for-3
  • Denny Larrondo: 3.1 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K. Larrondo was making his first start since August 24, 2019
  • Zach Kohn: 0.2 IP, 1 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 0 K
  • Wilser Barrios: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K

DSL Yankees 1 (15-15): The Yanks demolished Cardinals Blue 11-4.

  • Star of the Game: Felix Negueis – 3-for-4, 2 doubles, 3 RBI, 1 run scored, 2 walks, 1 strikeout, 1 stolen base. Negueis has a .936 OPS
  • Hans Montero: 1-for-5, 2 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts
  • Christopher Familia: 2-for-5, 1 double, 1 run scored, 1 strikeout
  • Jared Serna: 1-for-3, 1 double, 1 run scored, 2 walks, 3 stolen bases
  • Oscar Silverio: 2-for-4, 2 runs scored, 1 walk

DSL Yankees 2 (16-14): The Yanks lost a tough one to the Brewers 2, 6-5.

  • Star of the Game: Ronny Rojas – 2-for-3, 1 home run (3), 1 triple, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored, 1 walk. Rojas has a 1.021 OPS and looks to be a possibility to bump up a level
  • Brenny Escanio: 1-for-4, 2 strikeouts, 1 stolen base
  • Alex Garcia: 1-for-4, 1 RBI, 1 strikeout
  • Henry Lalane: 2.1 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 1 K
  • Carlos Gomez: 2.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 0 K
  • Luis Urbano: 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 1 K
