Pitching Prospects Acevedo and Adams Slated for Promotions

Multiple sources confirmed to Pinstriped Prospects on Monday evening that the Yankees are expected to promote pitching prospects Chance Adams and Domingo Acevedo on Tuesday.

Adams, the reigning Florida State League Pitcher of the Week,  is being promoted to Trenton. The 21-year old right hander was 5-0 with a 2.65 ERA in 12 starts for High-A Tampa. Adams was drafted by the organization last June and has quickly ascended through the system in just one calendar year.

The Yankees drafted Adams as a reliever and he dominated three levels last summer and finished his campaign at Tampa. Adams was converted into a starter this season and he has brilliant in making the transition. In 57 innings, he has fanned 73 and walked just 15 over that span.

Acevedo is getting the bump up from Charleston to fill Adams vacated role in the Tampa rotation. The 22-year old Dominican native is ranked as the Yankees fifth best prospect by Baseball America and he has lived up to the billing this spring.

In eight start for the RiverDogs the imposing 6’7″ righty has gone 3-1 with a 2.74 ERA. He has struck out 48 and walked just seven  in 42.2 innings of work.
