Pitching Rules the Day

The Yankees pitched a shut out today as the Yankees blanked the Jays.  They ended up scoring two runs on five hits.  They drew six walks while only striking out eight times.

Best day at the plate was Greg Bird as he played first and went one for two with a double.  Bird scored one of the runs and walked also.  Bird played five innings defensively as he is coming back from a back problem.

Jerison Lopez and David Remedios both went one for three today.  Remedios doubled got an RBI and struck.

Angel Rincon got the start and he went three and two thirds innings today.  He gave up three hits but no runs while striking out four batters.  Rincon also got three groundball outs compared to one flyball out.

Caleb Frare got the win as he went two and a third innings.  He allowed one hit and a walk but struck out four batters.  His other out was via the flyball variety.

Cesar Vargas completed the shutout by going three innings.  He allowed two hits but struck out five batters with issuing a walk.  He got two groundball to two flyball outs today.

Austin Aune appears to be spent as he had another bad day.   He has six strikeouts out of his last eight at bats.  I wouldn’t be too concerned since this is probably the longest Aune has played in his life.  The season is close to being over so you might see them phantom DL him to give him a break.

They play the Phillies at their complex tomorrow at noon eastern time.

17 games left in the GCL season.
