Right-handed pitcher Jhony Brito signed with the Yankees as an international free agent on November 9, 2015, out of Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.
2016
Brito made his professional debut in 2016 with the Dominican Summer League Yankees. In nine starts he was 0-3 with a 6.81 ERA and struck out 34 batters in 35 2/3 innings with eight walks. Before being promoted to the Gulf Coast League.
In the GCL, Brito was 1-3 in four games with a 5.59 ERA, and 14 strikeouts in 19 1/3 innings pitched while walking only one batter.
2017
For the 2017 season, he was assigned to the Staten Island Yankees where he made just three starts, striking out eight batters in 7 2/3 innings before being shut down after being taken out of the game on July 29 against Tri-City Valley Cats. He threw just eight pitches before his arm started bothering him and was removed. The Yankees went on to win the game and complete the third no-hitter in team history.
2018
Brito missed the entire 2018 season due undergoing Tommy John surgery. He began a throwing program after the short-season leagues began in the Dominican Republic before returning to actual game action during the annual Florida Instructional League.
