Princeton Nips Pulaski with Late Run

PRINCETON, W.Va. – Carlos Vidal and Gosuke Katoh each had two hits, erasing a three-run deficit, saw the Princeton Rays push across a run in the bottom of the eighth for a 5-4 Appalachian League victory before 514 fans at Hunnicutt Field Sunday evening.

The Rays (15-9) took over first place in the Appalachian League East, a game ahead of the Yankees, who dropped to 15-11.

Katoh, who is hitting .309 (10-for-33) in his last 10 games, boosted his average to .279. Right-hander Jhon Morban, who allowed one run and five hits over 4.2 innings, dropped to 0-4 with the tough-luck loss.

The teams will finish the series at Hunnicutt Field at 7 p.m. Monday, with Pulaski the traveling to Kingsport to open a series with the Mets Tuesday night.
