The Yankees brass appreciates the job Tony Franklin has done in their minor-league system.

Pulaski Clinches Appalachian East Title

BRISTOL, Va. – It doesn’t matter what team Tony Franklin manages.

After taking the Double-A Trenton Thunder to three Eastern League championships and two other finals appearances, his Pulaski Yankees (41-22) clinched the Appalachian East title with a 4-2 win over the Bristol Pirates Thursday night before 352 fans at DeVault Memorial Stadium.

While the Yankees will finish the regular season on the road, they will return to Calfee Park next week for at least one semifinal playoff, likely meeting the Princeton Rays in that series. Pulaski easily has the Rookie Advanced league’s top record.

Center fielder Kendall Coleman had a pair of hits and Nathan Mikolas the lone Pulaski RBI as the Yankees scored ta pair of unearned runs. Righty Juan Jimenez picked up his second win with three solid innings in relief of right-handed starter Adonis Rosa.

Pulaski will play the third game of the four-game series at Bristol at 7 p.m. Friday.
