Pulaski, Virginia – Entering the 2015 inaugural year as a Rookie League affiliate of the New York Yankees, the Pulaski Yankees have established the managing staff that will lead the new team in the Appalachian League. Stepping into the head position as Manager of the latest Calfee Park line-up will be Minor League Baseball veteran, Tony Franklin.
Franklin has spent the last eight years in New Jersey as Manager of the New York Yankee’s AA affiliate, the Trenton Thunder. Under his command, the Thunder banked three Eastern League championships and four division titles. In a recent statement after accepting this new position, Franklin comments, “I’m looking forward to the opportunity with the Pulaski Yankees. I’ve got high hopes for the upcoming season and plan to provide fans at Calfee Park with quality baseball.”
In addition to Tony’s presence as Manager of the Pulaski Yankees – his coaching staff will include:Justin Pope (Pitching Coach), Edwar Gonzalez (Hitting Coach), Hector Rabago (Defensive Coach), Josh DiLoreto (Trainer), and James Gonzalez (Strength Coach).
General Manager of the park, Mike Fintel, comments on the recent developments, “We are privileged to have such an esteemed Manager as Tony Franklin in Pulaski. The level of experience behind Tony and his coaching staff will provide for an exciting year at Calfee.”
Calfee Park owners, David Hagan and Larry Shelor have high expectations for the upcoming Short Season in Pulaski. With renovations to the baseball park and extended stay hotel underway, patrons of Calfee Park can expect to see a new look to Pulaski’s historic park this summer – but the family-friendly atmosphere will remain the same.
The Pulaski Yankees are a Short-Season Rookie League team in the Minor League Baseball Organization. 2015 marks the first year as Pulaski Yankees, a direct affiliate of the New York Yankees.
