In the thirteenth round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft the New York Yankees selected slugging first-baseman Bo Thompson. Bo is a product of The Citadel and spent his college years playing at “The Joe” in South Carolina, the same home field of the Charleston RiverDogs.
You were drafted in the 13th round of this year’s draft. Can you tell us what it was like for you when you found out that the Yankees selected you?
“Being drafted to the best organization in the 13th round was a dream come true it was so surreal when it happened and I saw my name go up on the board.”
Where were you when you found out that you were drafted by the Yankees?
“I was home in Greenville, South Carolina with family and friends when I got drafted.”
Can you give us a little scouting report on yourself?
“Love to hit, I’d like to call myself a power hitter but I my main goal is to get on base as much as possible and also drive in runs.”
What player do you compare yourself to and why?
“I compare my lower half to Albert Pujols and upper body to Prince Fielder, swing wise.”
What do you consider your best tool and why? Worst?
“I consider my best tool being an aggressive hitter with a good-eye at the plate. My tool I need to improve on is probably getting quicker on the bases and getting better with my foot work to get to ground balls in the 4 hole.”
