RailRiders Complete Sweep in Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET, R.I  – Kyle Haynes (1-0) and Branden Pinder combined on a four-hit shutout as the SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) bested the Pawtucket Red Sox (Boston Red Sox) on Wednesday afternoon, 1-0. The RailRiders (4-2) swept the three-game series for their 15th win over their last 18 games at McCoy Stadium.

The game’s only run crossed in the second inning without a hit. Three consecutive walks issued by Pawtucket starter Henry Owens (1-1) loaded the bases for Eddy Rodriguez. The veteran catcher delivered an RBI groundout to second base for the lone run SWB would need.

Haynes fired six innings of three-hit ball, whiffing three. Pinder struck out four more while allowing just one baserunner, a two-out infield single to Ryan LaMarre in the seventh.

The team returns home for an eight-game homestand starting on Thursday, April 14 with a 6:35 p.m. first pitch against the Syracuse Chiefs (Washington Nationals). SWB right-hander Tyler Cloyd (0-0, 2.25) will face fellow righty Taylor Jordan (0-0, 1.80). The Thirsty Thursday will feature $1 Bud Lights and Pepsi products. And each Thursday college students can get a $5 lawn walk-up ticket with their college ID. For tickets or more information, please call 570-969-BALL (2255) or visit swbrailriders.com.

Have covered the Yankees and their system for over 20 years. I enjoy writing about future Yankees and where a prospect stands in the system. One rule: I only analyze and comment on prospects I have seen play and have talked to.
