RailRiders Rout IronPigs, 11-4

Hand Rivals First Back-to-Back Losses Since April 7-8

Allentown, Pa. – The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) roasted the host Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Philadelphia Phillies) on Saturday night, 11-4. The RailRiders (35-24) improved to a season-best 11 games over .500 and handed the IronPigs (41-21) their first back-to-back home losses since Lehigh Valley’s first two games of the season, April 7-8.

Tied 2-2 in the seventh, Dustin Fowler lined a two-run homer to right field, his 10th dinger of the year, to give the RailRiders the lead for good. A four-run eighth and three-run ninth cemented the advantage. A three-run homer by Kyle Higashioka in the ninth, his first of the year, made for the highlight blow.

SWB reliever Tyler Jones (5-1) got the win while Lehigh Valley starter Tom Eshelman (4-1) took the loss.

The series concludes at 1:35 p.m. on Sunday afternoon as SWB’s Chance Adams (3-2, 2.17) faces southpaw Cesar Ramos (4-1, 1.72). The RailRiders’ next homestand gets underway on Tuesday, June 13 with a 6:35 p.m. start against the Red Wings. The $2 Tuesday sports $2 lawn tickets and $2 tallboys, presented by La Tolteca. It will also be a Bark in the Park game. For tickets or more information, please call 570-969-BALL (2255) or visit swbrailriders.com.
