Rehab was the name today as two pitchers and two position players all continued or started their rehab assignments today. Overall it was a good day as the Yankees beat the Blue Jays by the score of 5 to 0. On the day the offense as a whole went 9 for 31 with three walks. On the pitching side the five pitchers struck out nine guys.
Joba continued his rehab and made the Jays look silly. In his two innings of work Joba didn’t allow a hit, a run or a walk. He struck out only two players but got four ground ball outs to finish his day. Dominate.
Coming in next on the rehab pitching train was Zach Nuding. He threw three and a third innings on his first rehab appearance. He gave up two hit, two walks and struck out three guys. Nuding got four ground ball outs to only two fly ball outs. Hopefully he gets back to Tampa soon and can get a taste of Trenton this year.
Finishing the game was a personal favorite of mine in Hayden Sharp. He pitched for the first time since June 18th. He only went an inning today with a line that consisted of a hit, walk and two strike outs today. The other out was a ground ball out. I hope to see Sharp get back to pitching more regularly.
Dan Brewer and Austin Romine both went one for four today on their rehab assignment. Brewer played left field the whole game while Romine was the DH today.
The best day award goes to David Remedios as he went two for three today. One of his hits was for a home run and he got three RBI’s in the process.
Miguel Andujar moved two spots up in the order today and continued his hot hitting by going two for four. He scored a run but did have a strike out. On defense he did misplay a ball which went for an error, his tenth on the year.
Tomorrow the Yankees will head over to the Phillies complex for their game Monday which starts at noon eastern time.
