What always happens at the beginning of the draft year you start to see players mostly prep players pop up on the scene and get on scouts radar. Here are some names you might be hearing starting draft buzz on.
Hector Moreta is a Dominican born player who didn’t get signed internationally so came to the US to go to school. That was this school year and his velocity has gone up. The 6’4″ right hand pitcher has hit up to 95 with an above average curveball. This is a good player for the Yankees to target with their 2nd first round pick.
Jonas Wyatt popped up in February when he went to the MLB Compton Event and hit 95. While he has the same basic stuff as Moreta there is less projection with Wyatt as he is only 6’1″ tall.
Dillion Tate is a pop up guy somewhat. He is a college pitcher that most teams knew about but has shown increase velocity that will allow him to start. Before most teams thought Tate was a reliever but now he is showing a better delivery, stuff and results. Tate might have vaulted into the top 10 right now.
These are just a few of the guys who are starting to pop up and might be names Yankee fans should start to pay attention for. Once it gets closer to the draft we should have a better clue on pop up guys the Yankees should pay attention to.
