RiverDogs Drop Second Straight to Crawdads, 3-2

HICKORY, N.C. — The Charleston RiverDogs again had a chance to tie the game in the top of the ninth, but they failed to score and fell 3-2 to the Hickory Crawdads, Wednesday night at L.P. Frans Stadium.

The Crawdads (32-26 second half, 76-50 overall) got on the board first for the second game in a row. Jose Trevino led off the bottom of the second with a singe, took second on a balk, reached third on a ground out, and scored on a fielder’s choice.

In the top of the third, the RiverDogs (26-32, 60-68) evened the score 1-1. Ryan Lindemuth started the frame with a double to left and advance to third on a Griff Gordon groundout. Following a Devyn Bolasky strikeout, Billy Fleming hit a ground ball to third that was misplayed by Juremi Profar and Lindemuth came home to score the tying run.

Three consecutive two-out singles off the bat of Profar, Edwin Garcia, and Trevino put Hickory back in front in the bottom of the third. The score remained 2-1 until Carlos Arroyo grounded into a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the seventh to drive in Jonathan Meyer and give Hickory an insurance run.

The RiverDogs pushed across their second run of the game in the top of the eighth. Devyn Bolasky hit a leadoff single and took second on a passed ball. After back-to-back strikeouts, Joey Falcone delivered with an RBI single to center, his first hit and RBI in his RiverDogs debut.

Bo Thompson began the top of the ninth with a single, advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt, and took third on a wild pitch. With the tying run just 90 feet away from home, Bolasky flied out to left to end the game.

Ariel Jurado (12-0) kept his record perfect as he advanced to a league-best 12-0. Adam Dian recorded the final six outs to earn his fourth save of the season. Jordan Foley (3-7) lasted six innings, gave up two runs, and struck out eight in the loss.
