RiverDogs Look For Four Game Sweep Against Columbia

The Charleston RiverDogs go for a four game sweep of the Columbia Fireflies Monday night at Joe Riley Park. Rony Garcia (0-0, 5.40 ERA) makes his second start for the RiverDogs, first at home, against Gabrial Llanes (4-6, 3.22 ERA) for the Fireflies.

News & Notes:

The RiverDogs have taken a two game lead over second place Lexington in the second half Southern Division race. They now stand at 12-5 while Lexington is at 10-7.

Rony Garcia is coming off a five inning start in which he allowed three runs, all earned, on eight hits while striking out seven batters against Asheville. At Pulaski, he had no record in three starts with 16 and one-third innings pitched allowing 10 runs, eight of which were earned.

Home teams have held serve in the season series between the Dogs and Flies. The RiverDogs are 5-1 at Joe Riley Park against the Fireflies. The Fireflies are 6-1 against the RiverDogs at Spirit Communications park in Columbia. The RiverDogs are 6-7 against the Fireflies this year.

After today’s game, the RiverDogs hit the road for six games as they visit Hagerstown for three games and Lakewood for three games. They return home July 19 and start a homestand against the same two teams at Joe Riley Park.
