Hi, what are you looking for?

Romine Begins Rehab

The Yankees won seven to three today as the offense finally rebounded.  The offense hadn’t scored more than four runs in a game in over a week.   Most of the guys on the team needed this game to get their confidence back up.

The offense went 11 for 37 and had three walks as a team.  It was mostly singles today as there were only two extra base hits out of the 11.  One bad thing today was as a whole the team struck out 13 times.

Austin Romine began his rehab assignment and played three innings in the field.  At the plate he went hitless in two at bats but did pick up an RBI.  It’s great to have Romine back since he would be a big upgrade over Stewart at the major league level.

Austin Aune had the best day at the plate today.  The shortstop went two for three today with one of the hits being a triple.  He had a run, a walk and three RBI’s to round out his day.   Over the last ten games he has hit .294/.359/.382 line.   Aune has had good on base percentage but I would like to see more extra base hits.

Chris Breen continues to hit which is what he needed to do.  He went two for four today with one of his hits being for a double.  He did strike out but it has been a good start to his professional career.   His line to start his career is .367/.394/.533 for a OPS of .927.  Breen hasn’t drawn a walk so far but he also hasn’t struck out that much with only five strikeouts.

Miguel Andujar went two for four today with an RBi, run and strike out.  He hasn’t had a great statistical start to the season but it is good that the Yankees haven’t demoted him to the Dominican summer league.

Joseph Maher started the game and went four innings of today.  He had a decent game as he allowed three hits that led to two earned runs.  Maher walked two guys and only struck out three people today.  Four groundball outs to four fly ball oust finished off his line for today.

Cesar Vargas came in to relieve Maher and pitched four innings also.  His day was better as he only gave up one hit and one walk.  Three strikeouts went along with four ground ball outs and three fly ball outs.

Tomorrow the Jays will come in and play at 10 am eastern time.
