The Trenton Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced a roster move prior to Tuesday’s series-opener against the Richmond Flying Squirrels at The Diamond in Richmond, Va.
LHP Francisco Rondon and INF Carmen Angelini have both been transferred from the Trenton Thunder to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Rondon made his 2014 season debut May 26th at Richmond and tossed two perfect innings. His only other appearance for the Thunder was May 28th at Reading when he surrendered a walk-off three-run home run to Cam Perkins in the bottom of the 12th inning. In two appearances, Rondon allowed three runs on three hits in 3.1 IP (7.36 ERA).
Angelini began the season with Scranton before being transferred to the Thunder to begin May. The Thunder shortstop was batting .263 (5-for-19) before being placed on the Disabled List following the May 6th game. Since returning from the Disabled List, Angelini is 2-for-41 to put his batting average at .117 (7-for-60) in 18 games.
With the moves, Trenton’s roster is at 23 players– two short of the Eastern League maximum of 25 active players.
