PRINCETON, W.Va. – Right-hander Adonis Rosa threw five scoreless innings Thursday night as the Pulaski Yankees (10-7) scored a 6-0 Appalachian League win over the Princeton Rays before 787 fans at Hunnicutt Field.
Rosa (3-0) has allowed just four runs in 15 innings and is emerging as one of the aces of the Pulaski staff with lefty Nestor Cortes, who is 2-0. Corey Holmes and Brody Koerner combined to pitch and additional four scoreless frames.
Offensively, Nathan Mikolas and Carlos Vidal each had a trio of hits, while Kane Sweeney homered. The victory allowed Tony Franklin’s team to tie the Burlington Royals for first place in the Appalachian League’s East Division and dropped the Rays (9-7) into third place.
The teams will play at 7 tonight at Calfee Field before the Yankees return to the road for a three-game series at Greeneville with the Astros.
