New York Yankees catching prospect Gary Sanchez continued his strong start to the 2015 Arizona Fall League season with a 3-for-4 game. Meanwhile his teammate and fellow Baby Bomber Dustin Fowler was hitless in 3 at bats while Tyler Webb threw 2 innings of relief.
Sanchez got the start as the designated hitter for Surprise, batting fourth in the lineup and did not disappoint. In his first at bat to start off the bottom of the second inning he lined a single to right field but was erased on a force out a couple batters later.
Fowler was the starting leftfielder for the Saguaros, batting ninth in the order. His first at bat came in the bottom of the third inning and reached base on a fielding error by the first baseman. He went to second on a passed ball but was stranded at third to end the inning.
In the top of the fourth inning Surprise called to the bullpen to bring Yankees left-handed pitching prospect Tyler Webb. Webb struck out the first batter he faced but after allowing back-to-back singles he was touched for a fly ball homerun over the left-center field fence. Tyler bounced back with two more strikeouts to end the inning.
In the bottom of the fourth inning and one-out on the board Gary Sanchez came up to the plate. The first pitch he saw was a ball, the next two were called strikes and then he hit a pitch foul before finally taking the fifth pitch of the at bat deep to left centerfield for his second homerun of the Arizona Fall League season.
Tyler Web came out again for the top of the fifth inning and did not allow any addition runs but did allow a single in the inning. Gary Sanchez went on to hit his final single of the ball game in the bottom of the eighth inning to start off the inning.
