New York Yankees prospect Gary Sanchez had another big day in the Arizona Fall League, leading the Surprise Saguaros to a 10-0 victory over the Scottsdale Scorpions. Sanchez went 2-for-5 with 2 runs scored and 4 RBIs in the game. He was joined by Dustin Fowler and Tyler Austin who each had 2 hits as well.
Tyler Austin start off the hitting for Surprise in the bottom of the second inning when he lined a single to left with one out but would later be erased trying to seal second base. In the bottom of the fourth inning Austin walked and came home to score on a homerun by Aledmys Diaz. Tyler Wade also walked in the inning but was picked off when he attempted to steal second.
Dustin Fowler earned his first hit of the night when hit beat out a bunt back to the pitcher, he moved to second after Nate Orf was hit by a pitch. That brought up Gary Sanchez who promptly cleared the bases on a sharp line drive double to left field. He then came around to score on a single by Bubba Starling and a throwing error by the pitcher.
Sanchez’s second hit came in the bottom of the sixth inning when with 2-outs and a man on first he sent a fly ball over the left field fence for his third homerun of the AFL season. Tyler Austin and Tyler Wade each singled in the bottom of the seventh inning while Dustin Fowler singled in the eighth.
