Sanchez Named Baseball America’s Top Catching Prospect

Gary Sanchez is the first Yankee catcher since Jesus Montero in 2011 to rank as the top catching prospect according to Baseball America.

Earlier today, the list of top catchers was revealed listing the 23-year old Sanchez first among what it calls a “thin” and “barren” class of backstops.

Sanchez ranks as having the best arm (70/80) and most power (60/80) of the five catchers listed in the top-100.

Sanchez hit .274 with 18 homers and 62 runs driven in across Double and Triple A in 2015. He also had two at-bats with the New York Yankees and will compete for the backup job behind Brian McCann this spring.
