Senators Stifle Thunder Bats Again

HARRISBURG, PA – For a second straight night, the Harrisburg Senators held the Thunder offense in check as the Thunder dropped Saturday’s ball game 4-1.

Trenton collected seven hits in the ballgame, but was only able to string them together in the 5th inning off Harrisburg starter Richard Bleier. The inning began with the Thunder trailing 2-0, and consecutive singles from Dan Fiorito and Francisco Arcia before Taylor Dugas grounded into a double play. Cito Culver followed with an RBI single to bring the Thunder back to within a run, but after a Jake Cave single, Tony Renda grounded out to end the frame. Fiorito and Arcia were the lone two Thunder batters to record multi-hit games.

Once the Thunder found themselves down 4-1 in the bottom of the 6th inning, they never brought the tying run to the plate the rest of the game. The final two frames were tossed by Senators reliever Sammy Solis who retired six of the seven batters to come up against him.

The loss went to starting pitcher Brady Lail who dropped to 3-3 on the season. He was charged with four runs (three earned runs) over five-plus innings. He entered having allowed 3 earned runs over his previous 29.0 innings before Saturday’s start.

The Thunder and Harrisburg Senators wrap-up their three-game series Sunday with a scheduled 1:30 p.m. first pitch between LHP Miguel Sulbaran (3-3, 4.29) and RHP Dakota Bacus. The season-finale between these two teams begins with pre-game show coverage beginning promptly at 1:15 p.m. on 91.3 FM or online at www.trentonthunder.com.
