Rochester, N.Y. – The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders’ road success continued at Frontier Field on Tuesday night with a 6-4 defeat of the Rochester Red Wings (Minnesota Twins). The IL’s best road team improved to 21-8 (.724) away from PNC Field. SWB has won 14 of 15 outside of NEPA.
The RailRiders led 5-0 thanks to run-scoring hits by Juan Graterol, Rob Segedin, Gregorio Petit and Cole Figueroa. Starter Luis Severino (2-0) earned the win with five-plus innings of work while his counterpart Pat Dean (5-5) gave up five scores to suffer the loss.
Some late theatrics saw Branden Pinder enter to start the ninth with a 6-2 lead. But after Oswaldo Arcia thundered an impressive home run to right field, Pinder threw a 2-0 pitch behind Reynaldo Rodriguez and received an immediate ejection from home plate umpire Jansen Visconti. Rodriguez took strides toward Pinder before Graterol and Visconti intervened. Diego Moreno entered and retired three of the four men charged to his ledger en route to his first save.
The three-game series continues on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. Southpaw Jose De Paula (2-0, 1.53) will get the ball for SWB against right-hander Tyler Duffey 0-4, 5.64). The Father’s Day Legends Game will take place at PNC Field this coming Sunday featuring names like Reggie Jackson, Don Larsen and more. Gates will open at 12:30 p.m. in advance of a 2:05 p.m. first pitch. For more information please call(570) 969-BALL (2255) or visit swbrailriders.com.
