Severino Superb in Seven-Inning Stint; RailRiders Blanked

MOOSIC, Pa. – The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders were blanked 2-0 by the Buffalo Bisons on Friday night at PNC Field. The RailRiders (43-33) endured their third shutout loss at home and have lost consecutive games for the first time since a three-game slide, May 30-June 1. The Bisons (36-39) snapped a three-game losing skid to SWB.

Fans at PNC Field were treated to a pitchers’ duel between the Bisons’ Jeff Francis (3-0) and Luis Severino. Francis earned the win for Buffalo by yielding only four hits over seven innings with five strikeouts. Severino limited the Bisons to three hits and two walks while fanning six over seven innings.

Branden Pinder (0-2) absorbed the loss for the RailRiders after allowing two runs in the eighth inning on two walks and two hits. Luke Scott and Matt Hague provided the deciding blows, championed by an RBI-double from Scott.

Gregory Infante notched his second save with Buffalo by tossing a perfect ninth.

The boys of SWB continue their weekend series with the Buffalo Bisons (Toronto Blue Jays) at PNC Fied Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Right-handerKyle Davies (5-5, 4.70) will start for the RailRiders. The Bisons’ starting pitcher has not been announced. The first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a Rob Refsnyder bobblehead, presented by Keystone Sanitary Landfill.
