Hi, what are you looking for?

Streak up to Two for GCL Yankees

The win streak went to 2 for the GCL Yankees as they topped the Blue Jays 3-1 in the series opener. This was bad strikeout game for each team as the Blue Jays struck out 11 batters thru 9 innings today.  Not to be out done the Yankees struck out 10 batters themselves through the game.

This game was big for the Yankees because Jeremy Bleich started his rehab from the shoulder surgery he had.  He pitched two innings and struck out two batters to go along with a walk. He gave up no hits today and had three ground ball outs to the one air out today.  The top signee from the 2008 needs to get his prospect status back and this is the first step for him.

Giovanny Gallegos made his Yankee debut and pitched two innings and fanned two.  He received a six figure bonus last year after the July 2nd signing period.  What is to like about Gallegos is his 6’2” and 175lb frame.  This is a guy to keep an eye on this year and he will pitch the whole year at 21 years ago.

The hitting in this game was really done by two guys for the win.  Kelvin Duran and Austin Jones both went one for four on the day.  Duran had two RBI’s to Jones one.   Slade Heathcott continued his rehab assignment and had a no contact day.  He had two walks to go along with two strike outs.   Eduardo de Oleo made his debut to go one for three.  He is an interesting prospect to keep a watch on because he is a catcher who is 19 years old playing this year which is his second season in the organization.

The Yankees will go for the win tomorrow at noon eastern time. Let’s see if the Yankees can keep up the winning streak.
