The Tampa Yankees were back at it on Sunday afternoon against the Daytona Cubs at George M. Steinbrenner Field. LHP Miguel Sulbaran (ERA 3.08) took the start for the T-Yanks and although he had a solid outing, the Cubs offense had too much for the Yanks to overcome.
Sulbaran’s six innings of work allowing 1 hit and striking out 3 batters. Tampa was able to get on the board first with a Jose Rosario RBI single sending Wes Wilson home to score.
In the top of the eighth however, RHP Kyle Haynes (ERA 3.41) allowed 3 hits, 4 runs-two earned. The two unearned runs were due to a throwing error by Tampa first baseman Matt Snyder.
In the bottom of the ninth, the T-Yanks tried to secure a ninth inning rally, with just one more run tacked on by a RBI double by Aaron Judge to send Jake Cave home. With a final score of 4-2, the Tampa Yankees dropped a game to the Daytona Cubs.
The Yanks and Cubs will take the field again on Monday evening at 7:00pm with RHP Jaron Long (ERA 3.46) taking the start for Tampa.
