LHP Dan Camarena and the Tampa Yankees were able to dominate the St. Lucie Mets on Tuesday night at Tradition Field as they took the 7-1 win.
The T-Yanks took a 2-0 lead in the top of the 4th with runs being scored by Zach Wilson when Trent Garrison grounded out and then Anderson Feliz off a single by Claudio Custodio.
In the top of the 6th the T-Yanks were able to tack on another run with a RBI single by Jake Cave.
Camarena (ERA 2.83) pitched a solid 7 innings allowing 4 hits and 1 run; striking out 5 batters. He was relieved by RHP Kyle Haynes (ERA 3.78)who pitched 2 innings with no hits allowed.
Tampa cushioned their 3-1 lead in the eighth inning as they scored four more runs. Cave’s two run homer with Garrison on base sent two home for the Yanks. Then it was a two run double by Dante Bichette to send Cito Culver and Eric Jagielo home.
With this win Camarena advances to (2-3) on the season as the T-Yanks are now (18-20) on the season just two games below .500.
The Tampa Yankees will go for the series win on Thursday night at 6:30pm with RHP Rafael De Paula (ERA 3.45, 1-1) on the mound for Tampa.
