T-Yanks dominate Threshers in 11-2 win

The Tampa Yankees were back at Bright House Field on Thursday evening as they put RHP Rafael De Paula (ERA 4.52)on the mound and as a result were able to rebound from a devastating loss on Wednesday night and defeat the Clearwater Threshers 11-2.

The Threshers did get on the board first but in the top of the second, the T-Yanks were able to take a 2-1 lead. With bases loaded, Trent Garrison hit a single on a line drive tonight sending Yeicok Calderon and Aaron Judge home.

In the top of the sixth Dante BIchette hit his eighth homer of the season, a solo shot to left field. Aaron Judge then stepped up and hit his fourth homerun of the season, a solo on a line drive to right field putting the Yanks up 4-1. De Paula would be replaced by RHP Stefan Lopez (ERA 8.46) in the sixth inning. De Paula’s final line was four hits and one run allowed while striking out five batters in five innings of work.

Lopez then pitched the next two innings allowing two hits and one run; striking out one batter.

In the top of the seventh the Yanks’ offense exploded as they were able to tack on seven more runs. Everyone in the lineup would get a chance at the plate in the inning which included a two run double by Bichette and a two run double by Calderon. Cesar Vargas (ERA 2.25) then pitched the final two innings of ball with no hits allowed; striking out four of the six batters he faced.

De Paula earned the win and advances to .500 on the season (5-5), Lopez earned the hold (3).

The Tampa Yankees will now take on the Bradenton Marauders on Friday night at 6:30pm with Brett Gerritse (ERA 4.13,3-3) taking the start.
