T-Yanks drop second straight to Marauders

The Tampa Yankees were back at McKechnie Field on Saturday night for the second game of the series against the Bradenton Marauders. LHP Conner Kendrick (ERA 5.47) took the start for Tampa in this matchup, but however Bradenton was able to rally and beat the T-Yanks 4-3.

Tampa did get on the board first when Cito Culver scored after Dante Bichette grounded out. In the bottom of the second the Marauders were able to score two runs and take a lead over the Yanks.

Culver would help Tampa even the score as he tacked on another run in the third after a RBI single by Bichette. However, the tie would be broken by Bradenton hitting back to back doubles to take a 3-2 lead.

Kendrick worked five innings on the mound, allowing five hits and three runs; striking out three batters. RHP Alex Smith (ERA 2.96) worked the sixth and seventh innings allowing one hit and one run to give Bradenton a 4-3 lead. RHP Nick Rumbelow (ERA 2.59) pitched a solid eighth inning of no hit ball, striking out one batter.

In the top of the ninth, Trent Garrison scored the T-Yanks’ third run of the night on a fly out by Jake Cave.

With a final score of 4-3, Kendrick is charged with the loss and drops to (3-6) on the season.

The Tampa Yankees will take on the Bradenton Marauders on Sunday night at 5:00pm at George M. Steinbrenner Field with lefty Dan Camarena (ERA 2.35, 5-5) taking the start for the Yanks.
