T-Yanks fall to Threshers in extra innings

RHP Jonathan Holder (ERA 2.11) and the Tampa Yankees took on the Clearwater Threshers on Monday evening at George M. Steinbrenner Field. The Tampa Yankees were able to come back and tie the game at twice and force extra innings. But, after ten innings, the T-Yanks fell to the Clearwater Threshers 8-5.

The Threshers took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first but in the bottom of the fourth, the T-Yanks were able to tack on two runs due to doubles by Mike Ford and Ericson Leonora.

In the bottom of the fifth, Mark Payton helped the T-Yanks tie the game at 3 as he scored of a sac fly by Danny Oh.

Holder would go just six innings, allowing six hits and five runs; striking out three batters. Luis Niebla then took over on the mound for Tampa, pitching the next innings of no hit ball; striking out two batters.

In the top of the sixth, the Threshers would take a 5-3 lead but a run each in the bottom of the eighth and ninth would lead to a tied ballgame and extra innings.
Angel Rincon (ERA 4.50) then pitched the ninth and tenth innings allowing three hits and three runs and is charged with the loss (0-2).

Next Game:

The Tampa Yankees will go to Bright House Field on Tuesday night to take on the Clearwater Threshers in the next game of the series.
