T-Yanks lose battle with Marauders 2-1

The Tampa Yankees were at McKechnie Field on Friday night to take on the Bradenton Marauder, RHP Brett Gerritse (ERA 3.92) took the start for the Yanks.

The Marauders took an early 1-0 lead, after a RBI single by Bradenton’s Jordan Steranka. Gerritse would end up pitching five innings allowing six hits and striking out two batters. RHP Chris Smith (ERA 3.57) then took over pitching duties in the sixth and seventh innings allowing just one hit by the Marauders. But, the T-Yanks run deficit would increase to two runs as reliever RHP Kyle Haynes (ERA 3.89) allowed Bradenton to score their second run of the night in the bottom of the eighth.

In the top of the ninth Tampa was able to get a run on the board with a double by Danny Oh with two outs. He later scored off a single by Trent Garrison.

With a final score of 2-1, the T-Yanks drop the first game of the series to the Bradenton Marauders; Gerritse is charged with the loss as he falls to (3-4) on the season.

The Tampa Yankees will take on the Bradenton Marauders on Saturday night at 6:30pm with Conner Kendrick (ERA 5.48, 3-5) taking the start.
