The Tampa Yankees were able to complete the sweep of the Dunedin Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon with RHP Brady Lail (ERA 3.13) on the hill for the Yanks.
The T-Yanks took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning with a two run single by Aaron Judge which sent Mark Payton and Cito Culver home to score. Culver then racked up a RBI of his own in the second inning with a single on a line drive to left sending Danny Oh home.
The Blue Jays got on the board in the top of the fifth inning with a sac fly by Emilio Guerrero.
After six innings of work, Lail allowed 5 hits and 1 run; striking out two batters. RHP Philip Walby (ERA 2.31) pitched a clean seventh inning and was then followed by RHP Kyle Haynes (ERA 3.62) who took the eighth.
In the seventh, a sac fly by Mark Payton put the T-Yanks up 4-1 and a RBI single by Mike Ford in the eighth sent Eric Jagielo home to make it a 5-1 ballgame.
Caleb Cotham then pitched a perfect ninth inning to secure the T-Yanks’ victory and sweep of the Dunedin Blue Jays. Lail advances to (2-1) on the season.
The Tampa Yankees are now 2 1/2 games back of the first place Daytona Cubs as they continue this last push towards the playoffs. Tampa will now take on the Clearwater Threshers on Monday night at 7:05pm at George M, Steinbrenner Field.
