The Dominican Summer League Round Up: 6/19-6/24

As the dust settles on week three of the DSL season, the NYY Yankees still lead the North East division with a 13-3 record, by 2.5 games.  The NYY Yankees are the second highest scoring team and have also allowed the second fewest runs.

The NYY Bombers on the other hand have been heading in the wrong direction. After starting the season 6-0, they’re now 8-9 and dropped from 2nd place to 4th in the division.  The Bombers’ pitching has been sputtering, allowing 33 runs over the last 3 games.

Meanwhile Chalniel Arias continues to excel down there.  In his last outing he tossed 5 innings, allowed 2 runs and padded his league leading strikeout lead by adding another 7 on the day.  Arias is now 1-0, with a 1.69 ERA over 21 1/3 innings and racked up 35 strikeouts!

On the offensive side, Gabriel Terrero continues to play well. He’s slashing .326/.415 with 1.111 OPS, 5 doubles, 4 home runs, 15 RBI and 5 stolen bases.

Brando Mayea also continues to progress, as he hit .313 last week and added another double to his total.
